L01_OriginalfotoIt shows a production employee adjusting a deep-hole drilling head to the required diameter; a task that requires a great deal of attention and concentration. This is reflected in the subject’s body posture and the concentrated expression on his face, which is clearly focused on the adjustment of the drilling table.

Just another hundredth of an inch! is the title that Lutz Meier has given to this image. It refers both to the precise machining of the workpiece and the sense of commitment to and identification with the task being portrayed.

Kuhn Special Steel offers its customers a fully integrated production process, covering everything from material development and foundry fabrication right up to the machining of large-sized items. This also includes, along with other items, the use of deep-hole drilling machines. Designed for components of up to 5.3 metres in length, they can handle diameters of between 13 and 300 mm without anything having to leave our premises. Kuhn Special Steel has six deep-hole drilling machines in three-shift operation for this purpose.

Our employees take great pride in their technical skills and personal competence, with an exemplary attitude to Kuhn Special Steel’s approach to the concept of quality.

The Kuhn calendar initiative, a creative project carried out jointly with the painter Cindy Kuhn-Chuang and employees of Kuhn Special Steel, aims to capture photographic impressions of our working environment.
